How it works
Step 1
Upload your PDF
Drop your PDF into the tool. You will see a preview of every page so you know exactly what you are converting.
Step 2
Choose your resolution
Select Standard (1x), High (2x), or Ultra (3x) resolution. Higher resolution means sharper images but larger file sizes.
Step 3
Download your PNGs
Click Convert and download your images. A single-page PDF produces one PNG; multi-page PDFs come in a ZIP file.
Why use PDF to PNG?
- Lossless PNG output — no JPEG compression artifacts on text or diagrams.
- Three resolution options so you control the sharpness–file size trade-off.
- Processed in your browser. Your PDF stays on your device.
- Multiple pages download as a tidy ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to PNG for free?
Upload your PDF above, choose your resolution, and click Convert. Each page becomes a separate PNG image. Free, no sign-up.
When should I use PNG instead of JPG?
Use PNG when you need lossless quality — text-heavy pages, diagrams, screenshots, or images with transparency. PNG preserves every pixel exactly as rendered, with no compression artifacts. Use JPG when you want smaller file sizes and the content is mostly photographs, where JPEG compression artifacts are invisible to the eye.
Will the PNG files be larger than JPG?
Yes, typically 3–5x larger at the same resolution, because PNG is lossless while JPG uses lossy compression. This is the trade-off: perfect quality in exchange for larger files. For text and diagrams, the extra size is worth it. For photos, JPG is usually the better choice.
What resolution should I choose?
Standard (1x) works for quick previews and web use. High (2x) is good for documents you plan to read closely or print. Ultra (3x) produces the sharpest output but the largest files — use it for archiving or when maximum detail matters.
Is it safe to convert PDFs to PNG online?
Yes. Your PDF is processed in your browser and never uploaded to our servers. The images exist only on your device.
Can I convert just one page to PNG?
Currently, all pages are converted. For a single page, you can split the PDF first using our Split PDF tool, then convert that page to PNG.
Does this support transparent backgrounds?
PDF pages are rendered against a white background by default. PNG supports transparency, but PDF page content is composited onto white during the conversion — the same behavior you see when viewing the PDF in any reader.
