Resize a photo or signature to an exact size

Exact pixels, a file size between the form's minimum and maximum KB, and a crop you control. Your image never leaves your browser.

Only need it under a size in KB? Compress Image.

What an exact size means

Application forms often ask for something like 200 × 230 pixels, 20–50 KB. The file you download always has exactly the pixels you typed: we crop your image to the same shape, then scale it. To land inside the KB range we only change JPEG quality, never the pixel size.

Why forms reject files

  • The pixels are wrong, even by one.
  • The file is over the maximum KB.
  • The file is under the minimum. A tiny file is often a blank or blurry scan, so some forms refuse it.
  • The form counts 1 KB as 1,024 bytes, not 1,000. We stay under the maximum counted the small way and over the minimum counted the large way, with a 2% margin on each side.

What we found when testing

Test imageSize asked forResult
Passport-style portrait200 × 230, 20–50 KB26.2 KB at 100% quality
12 MP phone photo600 × 800, 50–100 KB93.9 KB at 87%
Signature, phone photo on lined paper300 × 80, 10–20 KB19.2 KB at 100%
Scanned signature140 × 60, 10–20 KB6.0 KB at 100%: under the minimum

Small sizes leave little room. 140 × 60 is only 8,400 pixels, and a clean signature that small stays around 6 KB even at full quality. When that happens we say so plainly. We never pad a file with junk datato reach a minimum. A photo with a plain but not pure-white background carries more real detail; otherwise, ask the form's helpdesk.

Auto-trim for signatures

Choose Signature and press Auto-trim white margins. It looks for ink that is clearly darker than the paper around it, so ruled lines and a soft shadow don't count, and fits the box around the ink with a small margin. On our photo of a signature on lined paper, with a shadow across one corner, it framed the signature and left the shadow out. If it can't find ink, drag the box or a corner yourself, or use the arrow keys (Shift and the arrows to resize).

Check before you upload

  1. The result card shows the pixels, the size in KB and in bytes, and the quality used.
  2. Below 50% quality we warn you. Look at the face or the signature at full size.
  3. The file name ends in the size, like photo_200x230.jpg, so you can tell your files apart.

How it works

Step 1

Add your photo or signature

One JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB. A phone photo of a signature on paper works too. Nothing is uploaded.

Step 2

Type the form's numbers

Width × height in pixels and the KB range, exactly as the form states them. Then move the crop box, or let Auto-trim find the signature.

Step 3

Download the JPG

You get exactly that many pixels, at the highest quality that lands inside the range, with the size in KB and bytes shown.

Why use Photo & Signature Resizer?

  • Exactly the pixels you type: the KB range is reached with quality alone.
  • Lands between a minimum and a maximum KB, counted either way a form might count them.
  • Crop box with mouse, touch and keyboard, plus Auto-trim for signatures on paper.
  • Runs in your browser: your photo never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Will the result be exactly the size I typed?

Yes. The output is always exactly the width and height you enter. To reach the KB range we only change JPEG quality, never the pixel size.

Why does the form have a minimum KB as well?

Some forms reject files that are too small, because a very small file is often a blurry or empty scan. We aim above the minimum and below the maximum, with a margin either way.

What if my image comes out under the minimum?

We tell you instead of padding the file with junk data. A plain, small signature can simply be too simple to reach a high minimum. Try a photo with a plain but not pure-white background, or ask the form's helpdesk.

Does it count 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?

Both. We keep under the maximum counted in 1,000-byte KB and over the minimum counted in 1,024-byte KB, each with a 2% margin, so the file passes either way. The result shows the exact byte count.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Cropping, resizing and compressing all happen in your browser. Location and camera data are removed from the JPG.
