Pick a size like 20 KB or 50 KB. We keep the most quality that fits, right here in your browser.

Need an exact pixel size too, like 200 × 230? Photo & Signature Resizer

How it works

Step 1

Add a photo or scan

Drop in one JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB. It stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.

Step 2

Pick the size limit

Tap 10, 20, 50, 100 or 200 KB, or type your own. Optionally set a maximum width and height in pixels.

Step 3

Download the JPG

We try the highest quality first and only shrink as much as needed. You see the exact size, pixel size and quality before you download.

Why use Compress Image?

  • Runs in your browser: your photo never leaves your device.
  • Highest quality first: pixels are reduced only when quality alone can't reach your size.
  • Exact size in KB and bytes, plus the pixel size and quality used.
  • Phone photos stay the right way up, and location and camera data are removed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 20 KB?

Add your image, tap 20 KB and press Compress Image. We lower the JPEG quality step by step, and only if that isn't enough do we make the picture smaller in pixels. You get the sharpest version that is under 20 KB.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Compress Image runs entirely in your browser. Your photo is never sent to our servers.

Why is the result always a JPG?

Most upload forms ask for JPG, and JPG gets photos much smaller than PNG. If your PNG has transparent areas, they become white, and the result tells you when that happened.

Does it count 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?

We aim under the smaller of the two (1,000 bytes per KB) with a 2% margin, so a 20 KB result passes either way. The result shows the exact byte count.

What if my image can't get that small?

We say so and give you the smallest version we could make. Cropping to just the face or the signature usually helps, because there are fewer pixels to store.
