What fits under 100 KB
At this size most everyday images keep enough detail to print on a page or read on a laptop screen. Measured with our own test files:
| Test image | Before | After | Pixels, quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 MP phone photo | 2.67 MB | 96.4 KB | 1090 × 817, 69% |
| 48 MP phone photo | 6.94 MB | 95.1 KB | 1258 × 944, 70% |
| Screenshot of a form | 88.5 KB | 97.0 KB | 1440 × 900, 66% |
| Portrait photo (JPG) | 69.7 KB | 69.7 KB | unchanged |
The phone photos are the reason to use this size. The 12 MP one kept 1090 pixels across, and the shop-sign lettering in it stayed crisp. The 48 MP photo needed no special handling from you: we brought it under 16 million pixels before compressing, which keeps cheap phones from running out of memory. It took 1.1 to 1.5 seconds on our test laptop.
The screenshot is a PNG, so it had to become a JPG even though it was already under 100 KB. It kept its full 1440 × 900 and ended up at 97.0 KB. The portrait, already a small JPG, was handed back untouched.
Upright photos, no hidden location
Phones often save portrait photos sideways with a note telling viewers to rotate them. We apply that note, so our sideways test photo came out upright at 695 × 926. Saving a new JPG also drops the hidden data inside the original: we checked our outputs with exiftool, and the GPS position, camera make and model were gone.
Quick steps
- Add your image; 100 KB is selected.
- Press Compress Image. Big photos take one to three seconds.
- Download the JPG and check it in the preview first.

How it works
Step 1
Choose an image
Up to 25 MB, including 48 MP phone photos: we resize those safely before compressing.
Step 2
Sharp text where it counts
A 1440 × 900 screenshot fitted without losing a single pixel, at 66% quality.
Step 3
Save the result
Small files that are already under 100 KB come back untouched if they're JPGs, so you don't lose any quality.
